Personal Musings: Loves of My Life

I like to think that I'm generally a pretty private person, when it comes to my personal life. Not that I actually have a 'professional' life, but private nonetheless. I found myself in a bit of a blogging rut lately so I started to think about some of my favorite go-to blogs and what I love about them so much, and it came to me.. the everyday details, the quirky stories, adventures around town and personal stories, which I don't do anything like on How I Dwell Now. The blog started out as a way to keep friends and family up to date on what Josh and I were/are up to during our travels, but I've been awful (totally awful!) about bringing my camera anywhere, when we do anything and I never feel like it warrants a post. Not that we're boring (ok we're a little boring in North Carolina!), I've just been totally uninspired so I keep the blog revolving around style.

So for all of my lovely followers, I want to introduce you to the reasons I wake up in the morning and the reasons I fall asleep at night/or in the early hours of the morning feeling like I'm the luckiest girl I know!

Josh has been my very best friend for over 5 years now. We're both the kind of people who feel more comfortable in a small group of people rather than a large group and in a way, I think that's what brought us together in the first place. We've known each other since middle school but only really became friends during high school. I hope that everyone has the opportunity to know love and friendship in the order that Josh and I have, I really feel that it is the perfect progression of a relationship. We were pretty much the only people who didn't see that we were perfect for each other, as everyone around us knew we'd end up together. For the longest time I couldn't even think of him as anyone other than my confidant, late night AIM debate buddy (do people even use AIM anymore?!), and my rock in every way. The end of a bad relationship, him being there for me, and me going away for school for a year is what finally made me realize that I couldn't imagine my life without him and that I would never give him up for anyone or anything else life had to offer me. We FINALLY got married after 2 years of dating and over a year of planning my dream celebration! In June we will have been married for 2 years, which completely blows my mind. I truly feel like the luckiest girl in the world!

After 6 months of traveling for Josh's job I found myself totally lonely in an apartment or out in the city searching for jobs every single place we stopped at for 3 months. It was definitely time to add another member to the family, and if you know us, you know that we love other people's kids, but it's not really in our family plan at the moment or near future, so we adopted an adorable lab/terrier mix puppy from a rescue in South Carolina. Other than getting married, Rooney was the best decision we've ever made. It has been so rewarding, training her, having a furry best friend, traveling with her on all of our adventures. She's totally my dream puppy, and it sounds silly, but I wake up in the morning feeling so comforted knowing that my day includes these two loves of my life!

I can't wait to see whats in store for this next year of my life and our life together, as Josh is finishing up his contract in NC in the next 3 weeks... this time is always the most exciting, as we have no idea where we will be for his next job... I really wouldn't have it any other way though.. (except for the fact that I can't seem to find a good job!)

  2. Aw thanks Kaitlyn, I miss you too! I want to say I can't wait until we're both back in the same state, but I know you're having a great time and I wouldn't want to rush that ;). P.S. I just saw paparazzi pictures of a Hemsworth in Australia surfing today! Made me think of you. Haha Oh oh and the signature is a new thing. I'm having my blog made over soon but in the meantime I wanted to change it up a little to see what I like! =)
